The wonders of Juvederm...

You've seen the commerical on tv.... the pretty woman - "parenthesis have a place - but not on your face".... she's talking about Juvederm the new injectibl gel! Then she says "everyone will notice but no one will know!"

As I approach 40 - i can't even really believe it - i feel 25 (on good days!).... I digress. As I approach 40, as I look in the mirror, my two "problem areas" were crow's feet and my parenthesis ( ). the lines that form from the side of my nose and go diagonal around my mouth.

BOTOX took care of the crows feet. I've never been more satisfied with those results.

UNTIL....... our Medical Director was teaching - yes our Medical Director not only does our procedures, he teaches other physicians regionally on how to properly perform these procedures. Why would you go anywhere else? That is beyond me, again.... I digress.... Our Medical Director needed a "model" to inject with Juvederm in the in service training. I jumped at the change.

Take a look at my pictures. The top picture you can see the lines that are going down towards my mouth from my nose. Then in the bottom picture - they are gone!

Juvederm is $650 per vial and it took one vial to fill in my parenthesis. This will last about one year - that's $1.78 per day. Yeah, I'M WORTH IT!

Holy No Crows Feet Batman!!!

I've always had a curios interest as to how BOTOX would work for me.  I was the most skeptical person and quite frankly somewhat negative.

I could not have been more wrong!

I am totally sold on BOTOX it totally eradicated my crows feet!  Every time I looked at my smile, I saw crow's feet and with 40 just around the corner - I would get so deflated.  I JUST DON'T FEEL AS OLD AS I LOOK!  I just don't remember when I turned into my dad.

Here are a few myths that i was nervous about!

Myth #1

I thought my face would freeze.

As you can clearly see above, i have a bright and brilliant smile (at least that's what my mom says)!  All that's missing is those CROWS FEET!  

Myth #2

I thought it would be painful to get the injections.

Again, I literally didn't even feel it!  The needles at the dentist are 1000 times more painful!

Myth #3

I thought i was being shallow and vapid to pump my face full of toxin to look better.

I discovered BOTOX was a protein, not a toxin!  It will relax facial muscles, not PARALYZE them.  BOTOX was created to help relax the muscles of persons afflicted with cerebral palsy.  So if it is medically fine and acceptable to help relax muscles in arms and legs, when does it become morally wrong to have it used on the facial muscular tissue.

I posted a picture of me on my facebook page and friends from college (nearly 20 years ago) are emailing me - "barry, you look great!" 

I'm being told i look fresher, less tired!  And when I smile, I don't see those dreaded crows feet in the mirror!  

I also came to realize that I eat healthy day in day out, I work out 3 x a week and bike regularly to keep myself fit.  I take pride in a nice outfit.  

When did it become a bad thing to want to look my best?  You can see the pictures - the difference is truly remarkable.

i am in love!!!  i went to a SkinMedica seminar a few weeks ago to learn about the new Illumnize and Vitalize Peels that we are adding to our Medical Skin Care Menu.   SkinMedica also introduced me to a product they've been selling called TNS Recovery Complex $149 for .8 oz.  

After hearing the educator speak about the product, I leaned over to Dr. Buinewicz and said, "I can't live another moment until I try that product."  You see, I'll be 39 in a few months and am firmly committed to fighting 40 like an oil rig fire!!  I schmoozed the sales team at the event and got a "sample" of the product.  I've been using it RELIGIOUSLY, morning and night since August 12th and I'm here to testify;  this product is truly remarkable.  A gel based serum that is packed full of Human Growth Factors that are found naturally in young healthy skin - they help your skin rejuvenate itself.

Meet Catherine Rush, a long time guest of 3000BC.  Catherine has, what we would call the most sensitive skin EVER!  Kate Brown has struggled for years to work on Catherine and find products that Catherine will not react to. Typically, when Catherine leaves a facial her skin is some shade of red, from pink to bright red as it is in a some state of reaction.

Microfirming Facial Rave Review

The 80-minute Microfirming Facial with microderm was fabulous. First, I had a vacuum facial massage which was a gentle, soothing process that made my skin feel open and relaxed for treatment. Next, I had microdermabrasion, which polished my dead skin and made it feel baby-smooth. The last step in the facial was light therapy, a warming, soothing process to accelerate fading of any discoloration. Overall, the new technoogy at 3000 BC is taking skin care to the next level and I feel like my skin and my self-esteem have benefited greatly.

When I first started coming to 3000BC two years ago, I was suffering from adult acne, scarring, and discoloration. Additionally, my skin was dry and just not looking vibrant. I began seeing Anna-Maria about every 6 weeks and gradually began seeing changes. My breakouts became less severe and shorter and my skin regained its elasticity, which is great at 40 years old. If I did have a flare-up, it only lasted a couple of days and by having regular facials, my skin "bounced-back" a lot easier. BOTOX a big hit!

3000bc WellMed Spa held its first BOTOX Saturday on August 2nd. We had Dr. Brent Rosen in Chestnut Hill and Dr. Brian Buinewicz in Wayne.

I have to admit I was a little nervous, what a big change we're making. This is really a big deal. I couldn't have been happier.

We had guests receive BOTOX, Juvederm and Radiesse injections. The feedback for these guests was really impressive. They all were nervous because this was their first time receiving any type of injections. The number one feedback was that both doctors were very informative, knowledgeable and friendly.

All of the guests rebooked for follow up treatments with their doctors.

We also had several guests who came in to the spa for a FREE consultation with the doctor who ended up not getting any BOTOX or Juvederm or Radiesse injections, instead the doctors gave them suggestions on other alternatives to help meet their goals.

My suggestion is that if you're even remotely considering BOTOX or Juvederm or Radiesse. Come in for a free consultation with one of the doctors, let them tell you about the options and make your mind up on your own.

At first, the sound of a Microdermabrasion machine didn’t sound very enjoyable or relaxing. I was slightly nervous about the treatment because I was told it’s a combination of microdermabrasion and an acid peel - but decided to go for it! I quickly realized that I had nothing to be tense about. Kate made the entire treatment enjoyable and very relaxing. I tried not to fall asleep but kept dozing off. I think I even snored a little at one point.

Needless to say, I woke up feeling refreshed and rejuvenated.

My skin felt and looked great!

The effects are lingering and I think my skin has improved over the last week and looks even better.

I wanted to tell you that my face is glowing and it feels so clean, smooth, and firm. Last night after I washed my face, I applied 3 drops of the serum, and it burned, but then I applied the moisturizer and my cooled down and this morning it was so radiant. After I washed my face and applied the moisturizer and sunscreen (that was in the gift set) I only applied a little blush and my face is still smooth, firm, moist and supple. I did not experience any redness later on in the day like I used to with previous microdermabrasion treatments, so far, so good. Thank you Kate, as always, you never disappoint.

The first part of the facial felt very strange at first, but by the end of the treatment it was relaxing - just a light kneading sensation over my face. Immediately after the facial, I didn't notice any difference. I was floored when I woke up the next morning. I tend to sleep on my stomach with my face completely mashed into my pillow so I usually have very distinct creases when I wake up. I had none of that this morning. My skin feels a lot tighter and firmer. I’ve had a swollen lymph gland in my neck for a while it hasn't gone down completely, but it's definitely smaller now.
The new microderm machine definitely felt more aggressive at first, but my skin feels and looks so much better. My skin feels stronger too, like it wouldn't be as irritated by more concentrated products or make-up. Don't worry though, I'm not going to mess with a good thing and I'll continue with my regular regiment.

I can't believe how effective the light treatment was. I usually have blotchiness for a day or two after getting microderm. I had none when I left the spa yesterday.

I thought the treatment might be a short-term fix, and I'd be blotchy today but I'm not. The discoloration from the few current blemishes looks like it will fade away in a few more days. Before my skin would take weeks to heal like this. The whole facial from start to finish was amazing. I just wish I could have seen the results immediately because my initial reaction was very blah, and I didn't want to leave Kate feeling disappointed. I hope you get some more positive feed back. I'm thrilled with the results!

3000BC Wayne treated VIP's was a HUGE success!

This year our Wayne Location joined forces with the Main Line Jazz Festival to once again host an evening of Jazz. On Saturday, June 7th our team was on hand to treat our VIP's to wine and cheese along with relaxing chair massage. Adrianna performed chair massage all evening and encouraged everyone to book a massage with her at the spa, all VIP's were offered 25% off to book an appointment. Mark Cheever, our Front Desk Sales Supervisor said that our event saw a record turnout with our VIP RSVP list growing as the days to the event approached. I asked Mark if people enjoyed the event, he said, "Everyone had a great time at the party. The music was amazing, some VIP's dropped in for a quick hello, while many stayed the entire evening." SHOCKING BLIND TEST RESULTS!!!!!

Hello Spa-Goers!

Having previously worked for the nation's top mineral brand as well as for a few other well known high-end product lines, I took a special interest in assisting with the product development of our new minerals.

We sourced countless vendors and tested each mineral formulation for ease of application, texture, finish, color range, and wearability.

This project evolved over several months and resulted in a product line that meets all my needs as a professional makeup artist and consumer!

...The most exciting part of helping to create this line was the grand finale....Our BLIND PRODUCT TEST.

I gathered all the girls--Medically-trained Estheticians--for a special training on our line, and set up a display of 4 leading mineral makeup lines for everybody to try. These 4 brands--Bare Minerals, True Minerals, Mineralogie, and 3000bc Essential Minerals--were set out in spoonfuls, outside of their packaging and completely unmarked.

My goal was to have my fellow "product snobs'' evaluate these brands in much the same way I had when we were developing the line. They tried each one of the minerals on their hands, in a facial application with different brushes, and finally the verdict was unanimous:

--Based on a blind test, our staff liked 3000bc Essential Minerals the best in terms of finish, texture, ease of application, and color!!!
